A lazy Saturday, Do not feel like cooking or going into the kitchen at all, I called my friend and planned having lunch outside, Figs was our destination!
Figs is an institutional restaurant located in Boston’s historical area, and highly regarded by local residents there. Opened its first branch in the Middle East in Kuwait back in 2012 at 360 Mall, and a year later a second branch at The Avenues Mall.
The restaurant specializes in traditional and thin-crusted pizzas, as well as handmade pastas using the finest ingredients; ironically, we did not have either, as we were so tempted with other options on lunch menu. Here is what we had:
The go ahead was with the Mushroom Velvet Soup, served with fresh herbs croutons and a drizzle of olive oil on top. I love mushroom soup and whenever it is on menu I go for it, this one was among the best I have ever tried.
Now look at this! Am dying just looking at the picture now. What is spectacular about this Burrata is that it is served on a bed of artichoke mash along with the fresh balsamic and basil pesto, cherry tomato and crisply croutons. Beautiful and tasty!
Don’t you love how attractive their dishes look? This New Style Potato Bravas was my favourite. Diced fried sweet potatoes served with spicy tomato sauce, lemon aioli and shaved parmesan. I will ask for less aioli next time but it is a “must try”!
For a burst of flavours, try the Chicken Satay! A fascinating combination of grilled chicken, ricotta pesto, cress, cheddar cheese sauce, and pepper relish, with roasted baby potatoes on the side.
And of-course fries for the baby boy! However, not just any fries, drizzled with herbs, garlic, and parmesan.
For main courses, and after browsing the menu for a considerably long time, we ended up ordering the Veal Tenderloin with mascarpone polenta, and roasted veggies. The second was grilled prawns with warm grains, feta cheese, dressed with zaater vinaigrete.
Overfull from all the great food, was hesitant to order something sweet, but if you know me by now, you know my rule “Never Say No to Desserts!” Therefore, we ended up having tiny bites of the Fried Peanut Butter bomb, with coffee.
Figs also serves salads, specialty plates and a variety of homemade desserts. They are also open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
Check their Instagram for more information, and pay them a visit soon!
